Bar Stories

This was such a disappointment. There are so many good reviews and I was really excited to try it. My friends have been several times and never experienced anything like what we had. We had a reservation and it was a Thursday night. The bar is only accessible through the second floor and you have to climb a flight of stairs. Then, if you’re seated on the first floor where Habibi-San is, you will have to climb back down through another flight of stairs inside. For people with mobility issues, I would not recommend this place as it triggered my weak knee. Our table kinda sucked tbh because the first floor was very noisy and you can’t really hear your friends, especially with the way we were seated. It’s quite sad considering we made a reservation more than a week in advance. If you can, ask for the second floor, it looks way better. We checked the size of the pita bread several times with our waiter before ordering 4 pita, 2 dips, 1 burrata and 2 meat dishes. We ordered 2 cocktails. All these were made at the same time to our waiter, who was the main person serving the downstairs area. There are maybe 4-5 tables in this area. We then waited maybe 15-20 mins before the pita came, but only 2 were served. We were also served a dip we did not order, and we sent the wrong stuff back before it even touched our table. We asked the same waiter if this was the right amount of pita, and it was not, so they brought the extra 2 pita some time later. The burrata was served together with the dips and pita. At this point, it was still acceptable. 30 mins after ordering, we were done with the food and the cocktails have not arrived. After another 15 mins, the drinks arrived and 1 meat dish. We finished the dish quickly and the drinks were decent. At this point, we started to play a game while waiting so we basically entertained ourselves. Before we knew it, another 30-40 mins have passed and it was now almost 2 hours since we ordered. Where was the last dish??? Maybe we could have checked with the waiter earlier but we were preoccupied. Also, no one came to check on us to see if everything was ok. The cocktails were also served without explanation. We asked a waitress (not our usual waiter) to check on our food and said that we would like the bill if possible. She went to check and came back only to tell us in a matter-of-fact way: It’s currently being cooked and it’ll take only 6 more mins. We misplaced your order. It was quite jarring to us since we waited for so long, we wanted to leave and she basically just told us to just accept what happened and stay. We told her that we would like to just cancel and get the bill since it’s so late. When the bill came, the cancelled dish was still on it, as well as 1 extra pita and 1 extra dip that we didn’t order. Luckily we checked the bill or we would have paid for all these things we didn’t consume. The waitress was informed of all the wrong items but when the bill came back, she only removed the cancelled dish. We informed her of the wrong items again, and this time when the bill came back (3rd time), the 1 extra pita was still there. At this point our patience was running thin, who changes a bill more than 3 times and it’s still wrong? We told the waitress again that we only had 4 pita, but now she raised her voice and told her that the order was correct. We understand that it wasn’t her who took our order so we asked if she could bring the other waiter, but she argued back and said she already checked with him. The waiter came and also said it was 5 pita. We walked him through how only 2 pita came and we asked him if that was it, and 2 came after. Then, he remembered and said oh ya it was 4 pita. No apology was offered. The waitress went to change the bill again and did apologize this time when she came back. However it was too little too late and our evening was already ruined. A day later, the owner reached out and he took responsibility, explained, apologized and offered a solution. We appreciate it but did not accept what was offered. I will probably not come back.
